Detail analysis of titanium coil during welding!

The titanium coil manufacturer explains the details of titanium coil during welding, which can be divided into the following three parts.


(1) Welding process qualification


Welding process qualification shall be conducted according to NB/T47014-2011. The titanium tube data used for welding process qualification is TA2, and the titanium tube standard is φ 45m m × 3mm. The preparation of pre Welding Procedure Specification shall be based on welding operability and excellent welding joint performance. In order to ensure that the welded joints of titanium coil pipe meet the use requirements, the welding process qualification test shall be conducted according to the pre Welding Procedure Specification. The model of the argon arc welding machine used is WSM315, which uses high-frequency arc ignition and pure argon gas (99.99% Ar). The titanium coil manufacturer mentioned that the welding process qualification test results indicate that the welding process qualification test results are qualified.


(2) Slice corrosion experiment


To verify the corrosion resistance of the welded joint, a titanium pipe specimen was welded using argon arc welding. During the cover welding, water was used for maintenance, and the central weld seam was intentionally not maintained during welding. The color of the weld seam was yellow and some parts were blue, while the other welds were silver white. Then slice and sample the titanium tube specimens. After sampling, soak them in 30% sulfuric acid (boiling) for 24 hours for corrosion testing. It can be seen that the silver white weld seam has slight corrosion, while the golden yellow and blue parts have severe corrosion, indicating that the weld seam that is well maintained by water during welding also has good corrosion resistance.


(3) Welding of titanium coils


Only after the results of the welding process qualification experiment and corrosion experiment are qualified can the product be welded. The Welding Procedure Specification shall be prepared according to the welding procedure qualification, and the coil shall be welded according to the parameters and requirements of the Welding Procedure Specification. Due to the long length of the coil, which is heavy during welding and difficult to roll manually, titanium coil manufacturers recommend placing the coil on a support wheel that can roll, allowing for rolling welding during welding. At the same time, a group of 7 straight titanium pipes will be selected for assembly welding and then welded together. During the welding process, two layers of pure argon gas will be used for maintenance inside the pipes (argon gas will be used for 10-15 minutes to exhaust the air inside the pipes before welding). The welding area will be maintained with a maintenance cover outside the pipe, and the welding joint to be welded will be sealed with tape. One pipe opening will be sealed with tape and pierced into the argon pipe for argon gas. Finally, a pipe opening will be sealed with tape and several small holes will be drilled, In order to sweep away air and argon. After all welding joints are welded and bottomed out, cover welding can be carried out. During cover welding, water should be supplied to the inside of the pipe for maintenance. It is necessary to fill the pipe with water to prevent air from leaving inside, and argon gas should be supplied with a maintenance cover outside the pipe. During welding, the temperature of the titanium tube should be controlled at any time to maintain below 200 ℃ in order to detach from the guard.
